Updates from the Canadian Centre for Climate Services

The Canadian Centre for Climate Services (CCCS) is a dedicated multi-disciplinary team with expertise across a broad range of climate-related disciplines. We work with partners and stakeholders to support the implementation of the Pan-Canadian Framework on Clean Growth and Climate Change. We help Canadians understand, and become more resilient to climate change by:

  • delivering climate services driven by user needs
  • providing access to climate information
  • building local capacity
  • offering training and support

News and Resources

The Canadian Climate Institute released Damage Control: Reducing the costs of climate impacts in Canada The report examines the economic costs of climate change.

Update! The Map of Adaptation Actions has received some enhancements and new features to increase the functionality and usability of the tool including:


  • The ability to save or share custom URL links when filters are applied to the map.
  • An updated map interface that shows a satellite view of the country including topographical features and place names.
  • An updated filter display that shows users which filters they have already selected and allows them the ability to easily remove selected filters.

New Features:

  • The FAQs will be a separate tab/page
  • New tab/page dedicated to providing links to other websites that provide examples of adaptation action in Canada but with different focuses.

Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) has released the National Adaptation Strategy: Recommendations from FCM The recommendations are intended to inform the ongoing development of the federal government’s National Adaptation Strategy and highlights the need for federal and municipal governments partnerships, smart investments, and an equity centered and open approach to collaboration and reconciliation.

Phareclimat is tool for professionals, decision-makers, elected officials or municipal leaders wishing to implement climate change mitigation and adaptation initiatives in the transportation, energy, waste management and land use planning sectors. Users can search for initiatives and case studies by filters, location or keywords. (French only).

Fun Finds!

Climate Mapping for Resilience and Adaptation (CMRA) integrates information from across the US federal government to help people consider their local exposure to climate-related hazards. It includes an assessment tool which provides information on past, current and future climate conditions.
